Hope - Live in Europe
Brasilianos is pleased to launch the celebration of ten years of the 10 string mandolin musician and composer Hamilton de Holanda.
Transgressor of the instrument and creator of a revolutionary technique, Hamilton decided in their last European tour to record their shows - Austria, France, Finland, Germany and Switzerland were the countries this time. Thus was born HOPE - Live in Europe.
Hope is a portrait of this technique developed by the musician to play the 10 strings mandolin. Melody, harmony and rhythm. All at the same time. This exclusivity to record and perform solo has inspired others to follow this path.
Another important point is his work to popularize the emblematic Brazilian mandolin through his compositions, arrangements, partnerships and solos. In Brazil and the world. The repertoire is full of references and bows.
Hamilton honors the masters, as in the interpretation of Pixinguinha CHORO “Vou Vivendo” or the afro-sambas “Yemanjá`s Spell” and “Ossanha`s Spell”, from Baden Powell and Vinicius de Moraes.
Chico Buarque de Holanda is remembered “ O que será, que será” in an arrangement with paths of questions and answers. The beautiful “Seven Rings”, from Egberto Gismonti, appears as a lullaby.
In his new compositions, mandolin player shows the range of ways that can be traced with a mandolin. From the most swinging, “Black Samba”, to the virtuosic “ For the angels”, to a more reflective, “Hope” Who give name to the Record or the simplicity in “Etienne”. Hamilton consolidates a way to expose musical ideas and impressions about life with his traveling companion “the mandolin 10 strings”.
The technique is very important to get to the musical result that the musician would want. But the main element is : "the heart at your fingertips."
*Hamilton uses mandolin Tercio Ribeiro and Elixir strings.
